The meeting calls will be unlimited for Hanukkah, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Kwanzaa. Zoom is removing the meeting time limit restriction so that users can safely connect with their family and friends during the holidays amidst the global pandemic. Users from all over the world will be able to access these free days of Zoom. “COVID-19 has changed how we live, work, and celebrate in 2020, and like everything else this year, the holiday season doesn’t look the same. As a token of appreciation to our users during an extraordinary time, we’re removing the 40-minute limit on free Zoom accounts for all meetings globally for several upcoming special occasions,” Zoom said in the announcement post. “Whether coming together on the final day of Hanukkah, celebrating Christmas, ringing in the New Year, or marking the last days of Kwanzaa, those connecting with friends and family won’t get cut short.” Here are the dates and times for unlimited meetings option will be available to the free users:
10 a.m. ET Thursday, Dec. 17, to 6 a.m. ET Saturday, Dec. 19 10 a.m. ET Wednesday, Dec. 23, to 6 a.m. ET Saturday, Dec. 26 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 30, to 6 a.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 2
Users need not do anything to remove the time-limit, as it will be automatically lifted by the company during these designated times. This is not the first time that Zoom has uplifted the 40-minute time limit on free accounts. Last month, the video meet app had lifted its 40-minute limit on free meetings globally for Thanksgiving Day (November 26). Earlier this year, Google Meet had also announced that it had extended unlimited Meet calls (up to 24 hours) in the free version through March 31, 2021, for Gmail accounts.
