This form factor may be new for Microsoft’s latest operating system, but computers built into tables are nothing new. Back in 2014, 3M and Ideum created a 46-inch Android table and offered it for $6,950. It was around this time Redmond was showing off the original Microsoft Surface, which later became PixelSense. The ‘La Table Kineti’ coffee table is made from from wood and aluminium and has an unbreakable 42 inch Full HD (1920x1080px) display built into the surface. It is waterproof, and features 12 point multi-touch. The table which has a PC built into it is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor with Intel HD 6000 Graphics, and has 8GB of RAM and 120GB SSD. A single USB 3.0 port is available for connectivity, along with Bluetooth and WiFi built in. It works as any regular coffee table, but features special software which allows you to share content to and from your tablet or TV using simple gestures. It also allows you to control your home automation accessories. Kineti has developed its own custom software for these functionalities. While this may sound expensive, it is interestingly priced at less than half of the more business-focused Kapsch Interactive 40 table-PC, which costs around $13,300 (€12,000).
