According to a report on federal technology publication NextGov, the agency that stores the U.S. Constitution and other important historical documents has discovered signs of computer activity that is not authorized and very much alike to the recently found hack of federal employment records. On Monday, in its report, the NextGov said that the National Archives and Records Administration discovered signs that position of the files were changed, even though there was no proof that hackers took administrative control of its computer systems....

According to a report in The Information, published yesterday, Apple has begun designing its own servers. Building own servers helps because the government agencies can intercept the hardware before it gets delivered to Apple. The Information notes that, The premier US digital spying agency, National Security Agency (NSA) is known to intercept and modify equipment (create backdoors) before it reaches the hands of its intended customers. Apple is now looking to pre-empt such an eventuality by hosting data on its own servers in encrypted format....

However, now a new report from Bloomberg confirms that Apple will officially be retiring or rather killing the iTunes app through a new software update. The tech giant is instead planning to introduce a trio of standalone apps for Music, Podcasts and TV to replace the almost 2 decades old iTunes app. By doing this, Apple is looking to bring Mac in line with iPad and iPhone, where customers manage their Apple gadgets through the Music app....

The jury in Madison, Wisconsin, also said the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) patent, which improves processor efficiency, was in-fact valid. Because of this the trial will now move on to determine how much Apple owes in damages. Apple only commented that they do not comment on ongoing litigation. In January 2014, WARF sued Apple alleging infringement of its 1998 patent for improving chip efficiency. The jury was considering whether Apple’s A7, A8 and A8X processors, found in the iPhone 5s, 6 and 6 Plus, as well as several versions of the iPad, violate the patent....

According the Patently Apple, with the new feature, the iPhone user has to open their Wallet app, choose one of the credit cards stored there and type in the amount they would like to pay. The payment can be authenticated using a TouchID finger scan or the iPhone’s passcode. The system would also let the person paying pick the recipient from nearby iPhone users. Then, an encrypted payment “packet” is sent to the person receiving the payment, including the payment amount, verification and a payment “credential,” which could represent the sender’s credit card details....

According to illustrations included in the patents, it shows Apple ditching the notch for a full-screen display. Apple had introduced the notch design with 2017’s iPhone X, which has been a feature of new iPhones since. The absence of the notch means that the company would need to cancel Apple’s Face ID biometric security platform whose sensors are currently housed by the notch. Also, Apple would need to hide the selfie camera under the screen and reinstate the Touch ID with an in-display fingerprint sensor....

In a report published on Wednesday, ZecOps said it found evidence that both the vulnerabilities have been actively exploited by an “advanced threat operator” since 2018. According to the researchers, both the vulnerabilities can be remotely exploited by the attackers by simply sending an email to victims’ default iOS Mail application on their iPhone or iPad. Both flaws mainly affect the latest iPhone software, iOS 13.4.1, though ZecOps says the vulnerability has existed since at least iOS 6, which was released in September 2012....

The company’s pilot plant, which is operated by German startup Sunfire in Dresden, produced its first batches of the “e-diesel” this month. It is said to pump out 160 litres of the synthetic diesel every day in the coming months. The flaw dubbed as Kr00k and tracked as ‘CVE-2019-15126’ can be exploited by an attacker to intercept and decrypt some type of Wi-Fi network traffic (relying on WPA2 connections) by a vulnerable device. According to ESET, the attacker does not need to be connected to the victim’s wireless network and the vulnerability only affects Wi-Fi connections that use WPA2-Personal or WPA2-Enterprise Wi-Fi security protocols, with AES-CCMP encryption. According to the researchers, the Kr00k flaw is somewhat related to the earlier Key Reinstallation Attack, often referred to as KRACK, a vulnerability that had affected the WPA2 Wi-Fi protocol and forced most device vendors to switch to using WPA3 by default....
